The terms “cybersecurity” and “information security” are often used interchangeably, but in reality, cybersecurity is a part of information security. More specifically, cybersecurity can be defined as the protection of information assets by addressing threats to information processed, stored and transported by internet-worked information systems


The Cybersecurity Maturity Model Certification (CMMC) framework consists of maturity processes and cybersecurity best practices from multiple cybersecurity standards, frameworks, and other references, as well as inputs from the Defense Industrial Base (DIB) and Department of Defense (DoD) stakeholders.
