SPICE (Software Process Improvement and Capability Determination) is an acronym corresponding to the ISO/IEC 33000 standard series (former ISO/IEC 15504)
It is a reference Model for evaluating the Capability of software processes and for supporting their improvement.
SPICE is a general-purpose model that doesn't address any specific application domain.
Automotive SPICE is a SPICE-compliant Model defined specifically for automotive domain.
Automotive SPICE is widely used in the automotive industry as a qualification mechanism for software suppliers as well as a reference scheme for improvement.
As a result of a SPICE/Automotive SPICE assessment a Capability Profile is released (i.e. the ratings in terms of process capability given to the processes belonging to a defined set. The set of processes to be assessed is selected according the organization business goals or to specific customer demands).
Assessors are qualified by IntACSTM according to a qualification scheme based on required training, skills and experience.
